Frequently asked questions
The basics
What is MyMeals?
MyMeals is the intelligent journal for your metabolic health, on iPhone. Snap a photo, say what you ate, or import your camera roll, and MyMeals drafts the meal in the background: foods, portions and nutrients, with honest ranges instead of false precision. It tracks the metrics that drive healthspan, including plant diversity, metabolic load (NOVA), circadian eating and nutrient interactions, and it calibrates to your kitchen: your brands, receipts and tableware.
Is MyMeals available for Android?
MyMeals is iPhone-only for now. Join the launch list to hear about new platforms first.
When can I download MyMeals?
MyMeals launches on the App Store soon. Leave your email, and we send one message on launch day.
Is MyMeals a calorie counter?
It counts calories. Then it tracks the metabolic context calorie counters miss: plant diversity, metabolic load (NOVA), protein distribution, fiber, your circadian eating window and nutrient interactions. Capture takes a photo, and seven-day trends reveal where you’re heading.
Capture and accuracy
How accurate is MyMeals?
Packaged foods scanned by barcode or label are exact. For home-cooked plates, a 2D photo cannot reveal hidden oil or exact depth, so MyMeals calculates a strict interval for uncertain portions and flags the item to calibrate. Precision climbs as MyMeals calibrates to your brands, your grocery receipts and the tableware you register.
What if MyMeals identifies the wrong food?
Tap the item and pick a suggested alternative, search for the right food or calibrate the portion, and add anything the photo missed. MyMeals learns the correction and gets that food right next time. For a one-off, choose Just this once.
Can I track meals from photos I took earlier?
Yes. Bulk-import your camera roll, and MyMeals reads each photo’s timestamp, stitches photos of the same meal into one eating session and drops the drafts in your inbox. Receipts and grocery shelves stay out of your meals.
What happens when I take several photos of one meal?
MyMeals combines photos taken close together into one meal, and adds a second helping or a later dessert to that meal instead of creating a new one. Split or merge meals whenever you like.
Does MyMeals work offline?
Yes. Snap meals in airplane mode or at a remote cabin. MyMeals queues your photos and processes them the moment you reconnect, and shows you which meals are waiting.
Health
Is MyMeals medical advice?
MyMeals is nutritional intelligence for general wellness. Its analytics help you understand your eating; diagnosis and treatment decisions belong with you and your clinician. If you manage a condition through nutrition, such as diabetes, kidney disease or a food allergy, use MyMeals alongside your care team’s advice.
Does MyMeals work with Apple Health?
Yes. MyMeals imports the dietary data already in Apple Health and, when you switch it on, syncs your MyMeals nutrients back. You grant each permission in iOS.
Can I follow a protocol such as time-restricted eating?
Yes. Choose from protocols including Mediterranean, MIND, time-restricted eating, high-protein, low-carb and keto, anti-inflammatory, 30 plants a week, whole-food plant-based, glucose stability and low-FODMAP. The weekly health report scores your meals against the one you follow. If you manage a condition through nutrition, set it up with your clinician.
What does MyMeals measure beyond nutrients?
Every meal carries its food groups, metabolic load (NOVA), fiber, added sugar and plant diversity, plus two broader health dimensions: cardiometabolic quality and inflammatory potential. The Science page defines each measure and grades the evidence behind it.
Plans and billing
What can I do for free?
The Baseline plan includes unlimited manual tracking: search the food database, scan barcodes and add your own foods. It also includes 10 AI meal analyses to experience photo, voice and text capture on your own meals.
How does the free trial work?
The yearly Pro plan starts with a 7-day free trial. Apple charges you when the trial ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before, in the App Store subscription settings on your iPhone.
How do I cancel Pro?
Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose MyMeals. Pro stays active until the end of your paid period, and your meals stay in MyMeals on the free plan.
Can I get a refund?
Apple handles all App Store payments, including refunds. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
What does “everyday use” of AI analysis mean?
Pro includes about 300 meal analyses a month, which is ten a day. MyMeals records use beyond that and never blocks it.
Privacy and data
Who can see my meal photos?
You. Your photos live in your account. Cloud AI analyzes them as a transient lens, and the providers that run MyMeals process them only to deliver the service. MyMeals never sells them, never uses them for advertising and never shows them to other users.
Where is my data stored?
Your health graph lives on your iPhone in an encrypted engine and syncs securely to your account. MyMeals stores meal photos in the European Union, and account and meal records on servers in the United States, with the safeguards the GDPR requires. The privacy policy lists every provider and where it processes data.
How do I delete my data?
Delete any meal or photo at any time. To delete everything, choose Delete account in the app’s settings: MyMeals permanently removes your photos, meals, learned foods and account, immediately.
